Development is the pattern of movement or changes made at fertilization and continues throughout the life cycle. One aspect that experiences human development is cognitive. The term cognitive (cognitive) comes from the word cognition which is equivalent to know which means knowing, in a broad sense cognition is the acquisition, regulation and use of knowledge. Selanjutnya istilah kognitif menjadi populer sebagai salah satu domain atau domain psikologi manusia yang meliputi segala perilaku mental yang berkaitan dengan pemahaman, pertimbangan, pemrosesan informasi, pemecahan masalah, intensionalitas, dan keyakinan. Tahapan perkembangan kognitif adalah Sensory motor stage (age 0 -- 2 years), preoperational stage (2-7 years old), and concrete operational stage (7-11 years)
Berikut ini adalah penjelasan mengenai tahapan-tahapan perkembangan kognitif, yang meliputi:
1. In the sensory-motor stage (at the age of 0-2 years)
Pada tahap ini, mereka belum memiliki kemampuan untuk mengembangkan kreativitasnya. Because, at this stage the child's actions are still in the form of reflexive physical actions, their view of objects is still not permanent, they do not have the concept of space and time, they do not have the concept of cause and effect, in the form of games, they are still a repetition of reflexes. 2. Â preoperational stage (2-7 years old)

- Mulai berpikir logis dalam bentuk sederhana
- Mulai mengembangkan kemampuan untuk mempertahankan identitas diri
- Konsep ruang semakin luas
- Sudah sangat sadar akan masa lalu, sekarang, dan masa depan
- Sudah bisa membayangkan sesuatu, meski biasanya masih membutuhkan bantuan benda konkret.
Ada juga beberapa faktor yang mendukung berkembangnya potensi kreatif ini, yaitu:

- Teenagers already have an understanding of relative space
- Teenagers already have an understanding of relative time
- Adolescents are able to separate and control variables in dealing with complex problems

- Teenagers have mastered abstract language
