Can Spatial Method Be Modeling Poverty in Kepulauan Bangka Belitung?

Nowadays, poverty is the biggest problem in the world, including in Indonesia. End poverty in all its forms everywhere is the first goal of the Sustainable Development Goals (SDGs). Poverty is a complex problem so it needs to be reviewed from various aspects. Poverty is an issue that is always interest to discuss, because almost none of the countries in the world free from poverty.

In my opinion, Levels of poverty are no longer just a problem of lack of food, but certain has even reached the extreme, not a few people are lying because they cannot stand suffering from hunger and malnutrition that paves the way to premature death. This is the slow but cruel process of dying. Portraits of poverty become very contrasting because most citizens live in abundance, while others deprived of life. Wealth for some people means poverty for others. Poverty is a serious social problem faced by the Indonesian government. 

Even though it has struggled for decades to free itself from poverty, the reality shows that until now Indonesia has not been able to escape the shackles of the problem of poverty. A group of community members is said to be below the poverty line if the income of that group of community members is not sufficient to meet basic needs, such as food, clothing and shelter.

To sum up, the distribution pattern of the poverty level in Kepulauan Bangka Belitung province shows that there are differences in poverty level among sub-districts in Bangka Island and Belitung Island. Most of the sub-districts on Bangka Island have relatively higher poverty level compared to sub-districts on Belitung Island. Simpang Teritip in West Bangka, Bakam in Bangka Regency, and Tukak Sadai in South Bangka Regency are sub-districts with the highest poverty level, while the sub-districts in the Belitung Island, both in Belitung Regency and East Belitung Regency, as well as the sub-districts in Pangkalpinang City, are sub-districts with relatively low poverty level.
