Si Pitung A Hero From Betawi

Once upon a time, a boy named Pitung was born in Jakarta. He was born in Kampung Rawa Belong, his parents named Abah Piun and Nyak Pinah. At that time Jakarta is still known as Betawi or Batavia and it has been colonized by dutch in hundred of years. Pitung witnessed the Dutch cruelness against the Betawi people every day. As he grew older, his father hoped that Pitung would grow up to be a good child. 

His father put pitung into the Pesantren Haji Naipin, or known as Islamic boarding school in Kemayoran. Pitung is a child who is good at reciting the holy Qur'an. Not only that, in the pesantren they are also taught about one of Indonesian Martial arts which is pencak silat and pitung can master it very well. 

After several years as a santri haji naipin, pitung returned to his hometown. when he got home he was served food that was extraordinarily delicious, remembering when he was at the Pesantren he only ate what was there because it was to remember gratitude to God. 

At home, Pitung diligently helped his father to herd goats to areas with lots of grass, while Ptung's father sell fruits at the market. one day, his father told him to sell the goat to Tanah Abang market. After selling goats, on the way he is intercepted by three thugs. 

"Hey! what's your name bud?" said one of the thughs. Pitung answered them nicely "my name is Pitung". the thugs let Pitung go. Pitung didn't expect anything until his father Piun, ask him about the money. he search the money everywhere but still did not find it. Pitung knew that it was the thugs deed. 

So, he came to the place where he found the  thugs, and ask them "give me back my money! you thought i wouldn't know huh?".

 But the thugs still wont admit it that they was the pickpocket. long story short, there was a fight between them and Pitung won it. After days, while Pitung taking care of his goat,  the thugs come to Pitung and apologized for what they did. unexpectedly, the thugs ask Pitung for a cooperation to become a pickpocket in the market. 

Pitung denied it, instead he said "stop being a pickpocket, you did that to poor people. as a young man we should help people." one of the thugs answer it "we did that because we are poor to. If we are not poor, we did not want to be a pickpocket. 

We have a hard time in our life, then how do we do to help other poor people?". Pitung make a plan to robbed the rich people, they are Dutch company and all the natives who worked for it. Because these days, Pitung feels sorry for his poor neighbors, and he hates the fact that the rich get richer and the poor stay poor. 

The thugs agree with him and they robbed rich people for helping poor people. because of this, pitung made the Dutch nervous, and he became a fugitive because he had robbed the homes of rich people. his three robbing friends were arrested and shot dead for his behavior. then, the Dutch caught Pitung and shot him.
