BTS, a Korean boy band, has announced that the group will be on break after nine years of creating a career and achieving great success with the group. This unexpected news was announced by the members when they celebrating their 9th debut anniversary through the official YouTube channel BANGTAN TV which was uploaded on June 14, 2022.
In every year, BTS celebrates their debut anniversary with an event on their YouTube channel called BTS Festa, where members of the group sit and converse while eating food that has been placed on the table.
However, this event is different from the previous program which always gives happy vibes to their fans, in this event they expressed their desire to take an indefinite hiatus because they want to be together to explore more of each other's abilities outside of the group. Here, each member will focus on moving their solo career.
In the video, the members talked about the reasons why they decided to go on hiatus, including RM, the leader.
"I always thought that BTS was different from other groups, but the problem with K-Pop and the idol system (in South Korea) is that they don't give you the space to grow and develop as an adult. You have to keep producing music and doing things," said RM.
This hiatus will provide an opportunity for the members to rest and think for a moment about how to grow up as humans through music that will be made in the future. Not only that, they will take this opportunity to focus on finding their identity with a solo career.
And the first to do solo activities is J-Hope
"I think we should release individual albums"
