Are the Actions to Reject the Rohingya Citizens by the Acehnese Community Appropriate? The arrival of refugees from the Rohingya ethnic group to Aceh was initially welcomed with empathy by the Acehnese people. The Acehnese people provided assistance in the form of food, shelter and protection to Rohingya residents. However, the longer the existence of Rohingya refugees makes the people of Aceh anxious, the actions of the refugees who have disturbed the local community are the reason. Several actions such as running away from shelters, acts of violence and crime experienced by the previous country, as well as refugees who do not heed the rules of local community. Personal opinions of Acehnese residents such as differences in culture, religion and lack of knowledge about the background of the conflict are reasons that cause rejection of Rohingya refugees. This could have a negative impact on social and cultural life and could be a security threat to the country. However, can the attitude of the people of Aceh be justified, considering that from a humanitarian and moral perspective the Rohingya people are victims of violence and really need help and protection? Responding to this situation requires wise thinking and brilliant solutions that take into account the interests of local communities and empathy for Rohingya residents who are also victims. Immediate decisions must be made to prevent undesirable things from happening.
