Lack of Government Attention in Education Development

Education is the main pillar that supports in building a smart and empowered generation of quality resources and preparing the next generation of the nation. In an effort to advance education, school facilities and infrastructure play a very important role in advancing education, this is in line with the function of facilities, where adequate facilities not only create a comfortable and conducive learning environment, but also encourage students to more actively participate in the learning process. With the support of good infrastructure, such as classrooms equipped with supporting technology, well-equipped laboratories, and adequate sports field areas, students can optimally develop their potential talents and achieve better. 

How can teaching and learning take place without adequate facilities and infrastructure? School buildings, proper classrooms, blackboards, as well as adequate administrative facilities are basic elements that are indispensable for creating a conducive and effective learning environment. Without these basic facilities, there is little possibility for students and teachers to carry out educational activities to the fullest, and will ultimately have an impact on the quality of education itself.

Although these facilities and infrastructures play an important role in the implementation of education, it seems that the government has not paid enough attention to this issue, because many schools do not have adequate infrastructure. One of the concrete evidence that is currently happening is a public junior high school which is the State Junior High School (SMPN) 60 Bandung. The school, which was established six years ago, in 2018, is facing a serious problem that has been in the spotlight, namely not having a school roof since its establishment. As a result, teaching and learning activities at SMPN 60 must be carried out in shifts with SDN 192 Ciburuy, without using the facilities that should be available in schools in general. This problem shows that inadequate facilities and infrastructure in schools are still a real obstacle in improving the quality of education.

The unavailability of proper facilities and infrastructure significantly disrupts the student learning process. One of the main impacts is the reduced focus of students in receiving and understanding the subject matter, which in turn hinders the knowledge transfer process. When facilities such as comfortable classrooms, learning support equipment, or a conducive environment are not available, students tend to find it difficult to concentrate, resulting in decreased learning quality.

Although the teaching and learning process continues as usual as stated by SMPN 60 Public Relations Officer Rita Nurbaini, it is necessary to pay further attention to whether the moving class method implemented from 12.15 WIB to 17.00 WIB can run conducively and produce optimal results for students. The lack of adequate infrastructure in schools not only disrupts the quality of education, but also deprives students of their right to learn in a conducive environment. The government needs to act immediately to build facilities that meet the standards so that the learning process can take place properly. 

It is also ironic that the schools that suffer from this lack of facilities are public schools, which should be under the full supervision and responsibility of the government. As state-run educational institutions, public schools should set an example in providing adequate infrastructure. However, this reality shows that there is still a big gap in the government's attention to the quality of education in public schools.

The government should make the construction of proper learning spaces a major focus of attention. Inadequate learning spaces can provide greater distraction to students and hinder their learning process. Therefore, immediate action from the government is urgently needed to complete the construction of SMPN 60. Adequate infrastructure creates a good learning environment and not only supports students' comfort but also increases their concentration and motivation in learning.

The government has a responsibility to provide adequate educational facilities for the welfare of the younger generation. By completing this development, the government is not only fulfilling its social obligations, but also investing in the future of the nation. An optimal learning environment will create a generation that is better prepared to face the challenges of the future. Therefore, concrete steps in resolving this issue will have a positive impact on the development of education and the quality of human resources in Indonesia, especially for the people of West Java.

Although West Java has achieved significant progress in various fields, there are still important notes that must be considered by the government in prioritizing and prioritizing educational development. This is evident in developed countries, where education is the main foundation in achieving national progress. Indonesia also needs to follow suit.
