Thousands of years ago, Xu Wenwu discovered ten rings. The ten rings are mystical weapons that grant immortality and great power to the possessor. Then, after obtaining the weapon, Wenwu gathered several troops of soldiers. The army of warriors was called the ten- ringed warrior. The task of the warrior is to conquer several kingdoms and overthrow governments throughout history. In 1996, Wenwu started the search for Ta Lo village. Ta Lo Village is a village that holds various mythical beasts. Wenwu searched for Ta Lo village so he could expand his power.
Until 1996, Xu Wenwu found out about the legend of the magical village of Ta Lo. According to legend, the village possessed greater power and Xu Wenwu had ambitions to possess it. However, when he tried to find Ta Lo, he actually met a woman and fell in love with him, Ying Li, a village guard and managed to defeat Xu Wenwu. Long story short, the two who originally fought instead fell in love and decided to be together. Their marriage gave birth to two children, Xu Shang-Chi and Xu Xialing. Xu Wenwu also felt that his life's purpose was fulfilled.
After that, Wenwu decided to leave the ten ring organization to live with his family. But fate said otherwise. Ying Li died and changed Xu Wenwu's character. He then educated Xu Shang-Chi to be a top killer from the age of seven. Xialing quietly followed the training given to her brother.
At the age of 14, Shang-Chi was given the task of assassinating the leader of the Iron Gang. But after carrying out the mission, Shang-Chi runs away and decides to live a new life under the name Shaun in San Francisco. In the city of San Francisco, Shaun grows up to be a young man who can speak 4 languages, but he is now only a five-star hotel valet. He has worked with his best friend since arriving in San Francisco, Katy (Awkwafina).
They both enjoy a relaxed and carefree life, although Katy's friends and family often encourage them to seek better jobs. But they prefer as valet and karaoke clerks. Until one day, Shang-Chi gets an anonymous postcard with an address in Macau and a picture of an origami dragon that his mother made when he was a child. He assumed the postcard was from his sister, whom he had not seen for a long time.
Shang-Chi's mission in martial training is to kill the Iron Gang. After Sang Chi successfully carried out his mission, he was traumatized. Then he fled to San Francisco. In the midst of these precarious conditions, Shang-Chi was forced to bring out the martial arts abilities that he had been keeping tight for so long. The ability of Shang- Chi, which is unknown to Katy, brings them both to facts that are revealed regarding the background and conflicts of the Xu family, the ability of the ten bracelets, to the fate of mankind. Shang-Chi then has to make difficult decisions regarding the various polemics he faces in the midst of searching for and accepting his true identity.
The villain from the film Shang-Chi and the Legend of the Ten Rings is Wenwu, who is Shang-Chi's father and leader of the "Ten Rings" terrorist organization. He is also the original "Mandarin" character that was mentioned in the film Iron Man 3 (2013). Wenwu is told as the owner of the magical weapon "Ten Rings", he has also lived for thousands of
years to conquer a number of regions on earth.
One of the moral messages in this film is that as evil as Xu Wenwu is, he melts Ying Li's kindness into turning an ambitious ruler into a "family man" who only wants to spend time with his family. Or as strong as Shang-Chi is, he has a fear and chooses to run away instead of facing it. All the characters in this film also develop with their respective portions throughout the film.
The character development of Shang-Chi's character is quite well introduced at the origin of Shang-Chi, how Shang chi wants to be a better person than his father, how he learns his mother's martial arts techniques, to how he can find his sister, all of these things make Shang's character's feels changed for the better.
