Go Home During Eid al-Fitr

Assalamualaikum warahmatullahi wabarakatuh.

Hi everybody. even though we are currently experiencing the Corona pandemic. But I will discuss the habits that occurred in Indonesia every year before the Corona virus.

The culture of returning home in Indonesia has been carried out since ancient times. The term returning home in Indonesia is commonly known as "mudik".Music in the big Indonesian dictionary. It means going back to your hometown.

    Homecoming is the activity of returning to one's hometown to gather with extended family. Usually done during religious holidays. Like Eid, Christmas and New Year. Many people in Indonesia return home during those days. 

   Homecoming is done to commemorate the victory over fasting for a whole month. And the victory over fasting is celebrated with the big family at home. When returning home, one night before Eid al-Fitr. There is such a thing as takbir. That is a sign that the fasting that is lived for a whole month has ended and tomorrow is the day of victory. Cak takbiran is usually done by praising Allah and glorifying the name of the prophet Muhammad.. This is done while walking around the city or just walking around the village. There are also those who do it in the mosque and they sleep in the mosque and at dawn it is the day of victory, namely Eid al-Fitr.

   On Eid al-Fitr. First all Muslims will perform the Sunnah prayers of Eid Al-Fitr in the morning around 7 o'clock When Eid prayers are usually performed in mosques, some are performed in the field because the mosque does not have adequate space.

  After Eid prayer. People will prepare for the main event of Eid. They will go around forgiving each other. Everyone forgives each other and wants to get rid of the mistakes that have occurred. And start again with kindness. People will go from house to house. So that all the sins that he has committed can be lost.

   When people visit from house to house. Surely the host has prepared food such as ketupat snacks and drinks. And for the little ones this is the best day for them. Because they must be getting a lot of money from giving people. It could be gifts from their grandparents from their uncles and aunts as well as from their neighbors. So the children were very happy about this. 

   After going around and forgiving. There are some people who visit the graves of the ancestors to clean the tomb. to pray for them to rest in peace. And also as a sign of respect for their services if they are still alive. 

  After staying a few days in the hometown house. People will return to foreign lands to earn money. Most of these people are just overseas to make money and they will return to their hometown when they have earned enough money. Because people feel that there will be more money overseas.
