Andi Anto Patak was born in a small village, Kasiwiang, Luwu Regency. In 1998, he passed the Seleksi Masuk Perguruan Tinggi Negeri (SMPTN). He was accepted in Jurusan Psikologi Pendidikan dan Bimbingan, Fakultas Ilmu Pendidikan, Universitas Negeri Makassar. In 2000, he decided to transfer to Jurusan Bahasa Inggris, Fakultas Bahasa dan Seni. He has been working as an academic staff at Jurusan Bahasa Inggris, Fakultas Bahasa dan Sastra since 2007
