Agriculture: The Flourishing Sector for Indonesia's Economic Growth

The agriculture sector in Indonesia continues to flourish and plays a role in the country's positive economic growth, as the agriculture sector give their contribution to Indonesia's economic growth with 1.06% year-on-year (YoY).

Despite the ongoing pandemic, Indonesia's overall economy continues to grow by 5.01% in the first quarter of 2022. According to Statistics Indonesia (BPS), agriculture was one of the sectors that contributed to the country's economic growth with an increase of 1.06% year-on-year. Minister of Agriculture Syahrul Yasin Limpo claims, the growth trend of the agriculture sector has been steadily improving since 2020. The steady growth of agriculture is a sign of improving demand for food commodities as the pandemic recedes.
