The independent campus opened the Indonesian International Student Mobility Awards (IISMA) program with 200+ UPNVJ students registering from each faculty and department who were taking semesters 4 and 6. Registration for Batch 2 of IISMA started from March 12 to April 12, 2022. Asfia Damistriya is one of the students majoring in Communication Science, FISIP UPNVJ who received IISMA and chose Hanyang University, South Korea.
Apart from Asfia, there were 11 other UPNVJ students who passed as awardees for IISMA, FISIP (6 people), FEB (2 people), FH (3 people), FK (1 person), so the total UPNVJ students who received IISMA were 12 students.
The Indonesian International Student Mobility Awards (IISMA) is one of the Merdeka Campus programs that gives students the opportunity to study abroad for 1 semester and participate in promoting Indonesia.
The reason Asfia joins the IISMA program is because of her interest in IISMA's objective in providing opportunities to study subjects outside the department and studying abroad, this is one of the competitive opportunities to get so she wants to make the most of this opportunity.
Hanyang University, South Korea is Asfia's second choice university, she chose Hanyang because the courses offered are very interesting, and there are lecturers who have backgrounds according to their interests, so she is interested in connecting, and she is quite familiar with South Korean culture.
"For my host university, it is likely that he will depart in autumn around the end of August and return to Indonesia in December," said Asfia.
Information on the opening of IISMA batch 1 in 2021, Asfia found out through HIMAIKOM UPNVJ. He had registered for batch 1 but failed, then he began to prepare himself again to take part in IISMA in batch 2. With all the efforts he had made to participate in the selection of batch 2, he finally became an awardee.
"I hope this IISMA can be a place where I can process academically and non-academicly, have an impact on many people, and support my goals in the future," he concluded.
