Royal Castle of Blois
The Royal Castle of Blois, built in the 10th century by the Count of Blois, features 4 different architectural styles, starting from Gothic to Flamboyant and Renaissance to Classic styles. Different from Gothic, the Renaissance architecture is about balance on each of the side. [caption id="attachment_159350" align="alignleft" width="150" caption="Facade of Blois Castle"][/caption]
This formula was applied on every renaissance style building in France. On the other side of the fortress lies an Italian brick and stone building of Flamboyant style. The renaissance building has a decorative staircase constructed on the outside of the building. The middle of the building demonstrates the use of the Classical style, having been built by Gaston d’Orleans in 1635. This dwelling represents one of the masterpieces of classical French architecture.
