No Education Without Teacher

In formal education, there are many crucial factors determining whether the aim of national education will reach or not. Success of education is determined by some points such as qualified  teacher, good management of headmaster in the school, good government’s policy of curriculum, enough standard of facilities, and cooperative pupil’s parents in reach the target of school programs.

Some education experts – Wina Sanjaya, Ahmad Tafsir, Marta Tilaar, Etc. said that without  teacher education will not run well. Although our country has the best planning in education, that doesn’t run well when teachers don’t understand how to use it such as Wina asked some teachers in NTT, that they don’t know about change of curriculum. How often our country changes curriculum doesn’t influence quality of our national education when teacher’s quality of understanding is not improved. However, the key of success of education is teacher.

In Finland, teacher is a highly profession even more than the other professions such as doctor, lawyer, engineer, etc. different from our country, teacher is the last alternative of profession that whoever can be teacher. Although teacher is represented by poor people like Umar Bakri with his old bicycle, I wish our national education be better.
