When you hear the name Mountain Chicken what creature do you think of? You might think it's a chicken, but in fact, it's a type of amphibian called a frog or commonly called the Giant Ditch Frog. This amphibian is native to the Caribbean islands of Dominica and Montserrat. It is one of the largest frog species in the world, earning its name due to its substantial size and habitat preference in mountainous regions. It is named for its large body size resembles a chicken and lives in mountainous areas. This animal also has great leaping ability, reaching heights of up to six feet in a single leap. However, it is an endangered species. Their population declined by at least 80% from 1995 to 2004, mainly due to habitat loss and the deadly chytrid fungus. Conservation efforts are underway to protect this magnificent species, as it plays a vital role in maintaining ecological balance.

Hunting, residents usually hunt these frogs because they are a traditional food ingredient. according to wikipedia.org "On Dominica, this critically endangered frog is favored for its meaty legs, which are cooked in traditional West Indian dishes, and it was until recently the country's national dish." In my opinion, actually, hunting is fine, but with a note not to overdo it. it would be nice if you want to consume a large amount, it would be better to cultivate it. And when hunting, you should avoid destroying their habitat where there may be their growing tadpoles.
