15 Central Java and Yogyakarta Universities Cooperate in Anticorruption Campaign through I-IEN RCM

15 Central Java and Yogyakarta universities cooperate in anti-corruption campaign through I-IEN RCM.

15 universities in Central Java and Yogyakart that cooperated as part of Indonesia-Integrity Education Network had concluded their regional coordination meeting hosted by Satya Wacana Christian University in Salatiga from May 14th to 16th 2012. The meeting produced university-based and two provinces-wide anti-corruption programs (that plan to conduct a wide anti-corruption campaign regionally) and the organization of Central Java-Yogyakarta of the Indonesia-Integrity Education Network.

The cooperation programs emphasize on university-driven anti-corruption campaign both internally and externally. Internally the universities will campaign on the issue of anti-corruption and anti-plagiarism as the indicators of a university of integrity. Externally the universities will cooperate to produce talk show programs through local radios and local televisions as well as newspapers started this month May 2012.

This meeting was inaugurated by the Rector of Satya Wacana Christian University, Prof Dr John A Titaley, on May 14th in Salatiga. John Titaley stated that corruption as an extra ordinary crime should be addressed collectively by the universities. His speech was followed by a study meeting with several resource persons such as Ibrahim Fahmy Badoh (TIRI – Making Integrity Work), Handoyo Sudradjat (KPK), Prof Dr Mahmutarom (dean of faculty of law Wahid Hasyim University Semarang), Prof Dr Teguh Prasetyo (faculty of law Satya Wacana Christian University Salatiga), and Yakub Adi Krisanto SH MH (Co-Chairperson of Satya Wacana Anti Corruption Centre).

Another important results from this meeting is the publishing of Anti-Corruption book to equipe university lecturers with literature, which will be launched next december during the world anti-corruption day that will be held in STAIN Pekalongan. Another book publishing plan is the curriculum book on integrity education that will address six areas of interest namely law, public administration, religion and integrity, communication, public health, and business ethics.

This meeting also agreed to structure those programs under an organized cooperation administered by several university lecturers as follow: Coordinator: Dr. Marcella Simandjuntak, SH, M.Hum;Secretary: Theofransus Litaay, SH, LLM;Treasurer: Dr. Toendjoeng H Sitaboewana, SH, C.N, M.Hum;Legal Division Coordinator: Dr. Mahfudz Ali, SH, M.Si;Public Administration Coordinator: Ismiyatun, M.Si;Public Health Coordinator: dr. Ari Udijono, M.Si;Islam and Integrity Coordinator: Dr. Abdullah Aly, M.Ag;Communication and integrity Coordinator: Bonaventura Satya Bharata, S.IP, M.Si;Business Ethics Coordinator: Septina Dwi Retnandari, MA.
