Over the past decade, campus organizations have undergone significant changes. The influence of COVID-19 has brought a slight shift in the flow of campus movements. Initially, campus organizations were created as ideal platforms for intellectual development that spread throughout the campus. In the struggle for activism, prospective academics and leaders gather in an institution called a campus organization. Campus organizations have a moral obligation to fill the empty spaces of the campus with discussions, dialogues, and debates.
Restoring the substantial function of campus organizations is a task that must be done today. The Indonesian campus recognizes the tridharma of higher education as concrete evidence in compiling its philosophical basis. Perhaps many campus organizers do not realize the importance of adhering to the basic principles of their campus. The narrowing of roles and functions is likely to lead to a repetition of the problems experienced during festival organization.
It is possible that the shift in the role of campus organizations is due to the trend of turning organizational work programs into festivals. Each campus competes to showcase its institution in a crowded field. The festivalization of the campus may attract students who are not committed to the tridharma of the institution. The erosion of the campus due to the passage of time does not necessarily lead to improvement.
Even based on my empirical experience, organizations operate below the expected standards. This irony emphasizes the intellectual task of restoring the supremacy of universities in guiding Indonesia's direction.
