Despite the inconveniences caused by the blockage of SGU campus organized by PT. BSD/Sinarmas Land, student activities continue unabated. At the beginning of January, a team consisting of SGU students from Public Relations and Business Administration study programs won a business simulation competition, which was part of Net Economy events organized by a German university. Many teams from different countries competed and Indonesia was represented by the SGU. As the first winner of the competition, SGU’s winning students received a 7-day trip to Sweden. Congratulations!
SGU students received other awards, in particular three SGU Hotel and Tourism Management students who were awarded "Best Trainee" by the Ritz-Carlton hotel in Kuningan, Jakarta who have just completed their internship program at the five-star hotel. The internship program is mandatory for all SGU students as a way to produce young professionals who are ready to work. This award is a concrete manifestation of high professional skills and knowledge possessed by students of SGU.
Not only that, two SGU students from Mechatronics study program won second place in the Automation Championship 2017 in professional category, which was organized by Maranata University in Bandung. Maranatha Automation Championship is a national Programmable Logic Controller (PLC) competition for high school and university students in Indonesia held by the Electrical Engineering study program of Maranatha Christian University.
But SGU students have not just excelled academically. The SGU go-kart team (mainly SGU Mechatronics students) entered the Eshark Rok Cup Karting Championship 2017 Round 1, where the team claimed second place in the University Gearbox category and fourth place in the national gearbox category.
In addition to excellent student performance, SGU lecturers are also outstanding in their field. At the beginning of January, eight SGU lecturers obtained research funding from Kemenristekdikti, divided into 4 categories of research based on competency of the researchers and the types of research. Moreover, in 2016, SGU research was placed in the “UTAMA” category and received Research Grant Funding of up to IDR 10 billion.
These are just a fraction of the achievements by SGU students and lecturers since SGU was founded in 2000 and we are confident there will be many more achievements in the future. SGU is strongly committed to producing the best graduates that can compete both in the domestic and international job market.
