Long post ahead

Two years ago this day, I was still searching high and low for the right university to attend, most of them in Singapore because I had spent the last four years studying there. After A level results came out in around March, I was quite confident that I could make it in Singapore however God has a different plan, He wants me to go back to Indonesia to study.

While settling the administrative necessities in Indonesia, we chanced upon this international university, Swiss German University through a relative of ours, whose son was also studying Mechatronics there. So we decided to give it a try since I wanted to do engineering and Mechatronics is a niche here.

Even after enrolling to the university, I was quite reluctant during the Orientation because I had to readapt to the new environment, make new friends with batch mates who are generally two years younger than me or with the seniors who are either younger or of the same age as me.

But as the days went on, I started to enjoy this "new" life, spending time studying with new friends, joining Choir and sang in various events, meeting new people in Bible Fellowship, and gaining so many new experiences while organising events like MT Day or MT Gathering with friends and seniors.

I love the fact that the professors are so friendly and helpful here, that the curriculum is made such that there are so many hands on activities, that the seniors do not show seniority at all, and that the friends help me grow into a much better individual.

That's what I've experienced for my 1.5 years of study in SGU. Now my question is, why snatch our home where we can study, explore and learn things that are not taught in textbooks? Why stop us from chasing our dreams? Why sacrifice so many young and optimistic future generations of this country?

But even if our home is taken away forcefully, I'm glad that academic activities are still carried on normally, our ever helpful and dedicated professors are helping our seniors for their thesis and presentations while helping some of us prepare for competitions coming. The SGU Spirit is still within us, the fire will not die down just because of this small hiccup.
