Some of us know that there's this community being held as somewhat hostages in a camp in China. This community is Uyghurs. But how come not even most of us, muslims know about this? So, let's talk about 'Media's Role on Spreading Islam in the era of 4.0.

We're gonna talk about the Uyghurs. What is this Uyghur community specifically? The Uighurs are considered to be one of China's 55 officially recognized ethnic minorities. They live in Western China, Xinjiang region with about 11 million lives. In lots of posts on Instagram I've seen, they said that the Uyghurs were all Muslim, when in reality there are also some nons in this community. Even though yes, the people in this Uighurs community is mostly Muslim. But that doesn't make this community is an all muslim community right?

Reported by AssociatedPress, when China was at the highest peak of the covid-19, when the police arrested women who turned out to be one of the Uighurs, they were forced to take certain drugs and were also put in a detention cell with dozens of other women. The women were even guarded by some guards to make sure that they took the drugs.

Some countries in Southeast Asia like Malaysia and Indonesia have become preferred second countries for them, the Uighur Muslims and nons to fly to the country they want to go like Turkey.

China once requested Malaysia to deport these Uighurs back to china. But, the Malaysian government declined their request. Turkey also defended these particular Uighurs, saying that these people did nothing wrong in china.

But, have you noticed that everything in this world is just depending on which perspective you are on. Everything in the media is set by some people who work behind it. So we, regulars have to just see and differentiate which side is right and which side is wrong. And in this case, we gotta see both perspectives to be fair right? And so, in China's perspective, China claims that the reason for what they're doing now is because Uighurs hold extremist views that are a threat to security, until in 2017, the Xinjian government passed a law prohibiting men from growing or having long beards and women from wearing veils or scarves and dozens of mosques were also demolished by the government.

And so, what can we help? How can we help them? Is it possible to help them even if we're not living in China or near them? Well, the media is the exact key to help them. You know that 1 share can mean a lot. Even on uncontroversial things, the media affects a lot of people, especially their mindsets. See, when you find news A before news B, you'll most likely trust news A better than news B right? Well that's the thing about humans. They believe what they know, what they see, and what they hear first. And the thing about the media, is they don't publish details. They often just publish what they want to publish, or what they're told to publish to attract netizens. That's why when we get 1 information about something, we gotta make sure that it's the right information and not a hoax.

In this case, most media highlighted this Uyghur community is being tortured in the detention centre in China. Well what they don't highlight is that some Uyghurs were doing some extreme activities against the Chinese government in the first place. But then on the other side, that reason doesn't make the Chinese government right on doing these inhuman things to the rest of the community either.

Well readers, what I wanna highlight in this writing of mine today is just like the saying ''humanity above religion'', we humans gotta act like one. If we don't want to be treated inhumanely, then don't treat other people inhumanely as well. As in Hadits Bukhari and Muslim, which means ''those who don't love other human-beings, they will not be loved by Allah''. Because truthfully these activities of treating other people inhumanely are commonly found in this generation caused by many aspects such as wealth, rank, and also power. Anyway, by the way, busway about power, you know uncle Sam? Spider-man's uncle? He once said, ''if there's power, there's a responsibility'' and I also remember my dad always says ''the bigger the power the bigger the responsibility'', well these sayings come from both people who already lived longer than me. And from my perspective, they both are worth an application in our own lives.

''Being human is given, but keeping our humanity is a choice''
