If you feel like Gen Zers are getting on your nerves that probably means you're an old folk. It's known that every older generation despises the younger generation from a generational gap. Let's start from the beginning. I'm sure everyone knows Baby Boomer. Baby Boomers are those who are born from 1946 - 1964. They are 59 - 77 years old now. Now, they are called Baby Boomers for a reason because they were born during a significant post-war population increase, following the end of World War II.
That just shows that Baby Boomers are born in a time when life was not stable yet. A time where everything seemed so difficult to manage. All they think about is survival. They have no time and energy to think about their mental health.
All those things combined makes Baby Boomers a somewhat "tough character". They are known to be tough, hard workers, resilient, loyal, and into politics.
After Baby Boomer, the next generation is Generation X. They were born roughly between the years 1965 -1980 (43 -58 years old). These generations no longer have to be afraid to live or think of survival but the economy is still not stable yet and that concerns their quality of living.
The demand for finding a job was really high. Gen X wanted to work anything as long they could afford a living for their family. They do not care about a work-life balance. Gen X were raised by Baby Boomers with tough parenting. This made them reserved people, they could not express themselves a lot.
Gen X are known to be independent, highly competitive to the point they would do anything to win and resilient. They are into economic issues.
Next, Generation Millennials were born. Millennials were born between 1981 - 1996 (27 - 42 years old). They were born when technology was introduced. This generation were raised by Baby Boomers too.
Since technology was first introduced to them at those times. It made them realize that they might have some "traumas" caused by the way they were brought up. They were optimistic to break that toxic chain. This generation is quite active using the internet. This made them open minded and "modern" thinkers.
However, with open mindedness came their courage to raise their voices and opinions to anyone, including their bosses. This made Gen X to despite Millennials. Work life balance was prioritized by Millennials. They are known to be creative, collaborative, optimistic, empathetic, open-minded, and seeking validation.
Thus, those are the things that made Baby Boomers and Gen X to not tolerate Millennials but then Millennials are proved that life is no longer about survival but it's also about searching for life purpose.
All that I have mentioned above are related to why Gen Z are being "hated" by the previous generations. Gen Z are born when technology is used on a daily basis. Everything is working fast and instant. They did not have to think about survival, economy etc. What are they concerned about? Yes, their mental health. Gen Z is another proof that the quality of life has improved better than before. The only reason why the previous generations are "annoyed" by Gen Z is because this a new issue that has not been yet dissected.
