Dear my students,
I feel so sad today. Do you know why? Because I found you were doing plagiarism on your group presentation and your papers.
This afternoon, when I was “escorting” you on your group assignment presentation, I found that you were doing plagiarism, both in your presentation and your submitted paper. I found it on your group presentation session, your both group schema on your slide was just exactly the same. Then I asked you, smiley, “why did the schema so similar? Who doing the copy paste and who has the original one?” … you all just laughing, some of you look blushing ;)
Then, when you submitted your paper, as usual I read them, striped them… just before I even analyze what you wrote on your paper, I found that your both paper (from 2 different group/puskesmas) is just the same in the content! The difference only just the writing style (description versus points) and the form of medical record you presented, but again when it comes to discussion chapter, it just the same content! [Javanese people will say: “podo plek sak titik koma e!”]
Then our admin staff gave me the paper from previous paper group assignment from the same puskesmas, and what I found is truly amazing. You all just copy paste the paper, WITHOUT ANY CHANGE at all. You just change your group names. That’s it. It so much disappointed ;(
But I won’t mad of you, not yet, not this time. I prefer to do some introspection, why such of this thing happen? Does it only happen on my topic, or does it also happen on other topics? If I it’s happen only on my topic, does it happen since long time ago before I join to be the responsible lecturer for your class or it just recently happen? A lot of questions are floating in my mind, wondering.
But out of my introspection side, I was actually wishing to all of you, PLEASE DON’T DO PLAGIARISM. Do you know that when you are doing plagiarism, that’s actually showed that, you don’t have any respect to other? Particularly them who created the scientific work you’ve copied and your lecturer. It also showed that you don’t respect yourself. You kill your own creativity, your potential intellectual, your motivation and your learning opportunity to sharpen your writing skills, analyzing skill… see, how many disadvantage of your plagiarism habit.
For me, there’s only one word: go to hell for plagiarism! It just shows that you are totally nothing!!!
