1. Hasan Hanafi's thoughts
Hasan Hanafi is a Muslim scholar who is concerned about renewal or more precisely is called the reconstruction of Islamic (classical) sciences such as Usuluddin and Fiqh which is adjusted to objective reality. Furthermore, the thoughts of Hassan Hanafi are known for the golden triangle of Islamic thought which combines the three elements of the classical, Western and contemporary contextual traditions.
Hassan Hanafi's thoughts are one of the thoughts of a Muslim philosopher who is interesting to study.

There are some interesting things from Hanafi's thoughts.

First, on the one hand displays criticism of the Islamic tradition, but on the other hand is able to provide alternative thoughts and breakthroughs of thought to break theological deadlock and provide solutions for social thought based on theology.

Second, traditional Islamic theology was born in a historical context when the belief system, namely God's transcendence, was attacked by representatives of the old sects and cultures.

Third, from the opinion of Hassan Hanafi there are opinions of Muslims who criticize his thoughts which put forward too much reason because what is believed is included in the flow of Mu'azazilah and also his thoughts which are still influenced by Western thought.

2. Abid al jabiri thought
Muhammad Abid Al Jabiri is a lecturer in philosophy and Islamic thought at the Faculty of Literature, Muhammad V University, Rabat, Morocco. Born in Figuig, Southeast Morocco, 1936. He first entered a religious school, then a national private school (madrasa hurrah wathaniah) founded by the independence movement. One of Abid al-Jabiri's thoughts is about modernity, he has a big ambition to build a new epistemology that is in line with the development of today's society.

He was dissatisfied with the renewal efforts undertaken by Muslim intellectuals such as the Salaf movement, which according to them they glorified past achievements and tended to neglect the social relations of the people.
So the notion of al-Jabiri's modernity is not to reject traditions or cut off the past, but to upgrade the attitude and position by relying on the pattern of our relationship with tradition at the level of modern culture.

Therefore, the concept of modernity is in order to develop a method and a modern vision of tradition.
According to Jabiri, modernity is only a historical phenomenon that depends on the situation, is limited by time, and differs from place to place.
