This is the true experience of an encounter with the bad henaviour of the so called “Bule” in Jakarta.

My personal friend is a Malaysian chinese residing and working in Singapore, and on assignment in Jakarta perportedly on “training” but in reality here to resolve some critical baking operational issues.

The encounter was at the taxi stand at Oakwood residence at Mega Kuningan. My friend had just completed some shopping at the nearby grocery store and was waiting his turn to take a taxi. He noticed a caucasian man leaving Oakwood residence carrying a golfing set. The “Bule” was behind my friend for a good five minutes and also waiting for a cab. My friend assumed that since he was first in line andhad in fact ask for the security detail at Oakwood to wave in a taxi, that he was in fact getting into an incoming taxi. To his surprise, when the taxi arrived, when the taxi arrived, the “Bule” went in front and went into the taxi. The security officer, did not make any comment and proceeded to load up the “Bule”’s golfing set into the back of the taxi.

Dear readers, what does this encounter suggest about how “Bule”’s actually treat or think of locals since my friend looks like a local Indonesian chinese?
