A: Is malnutrition case only found in under-developed countries?

B: No, it's in every country... only the percentage and types are different.

A: What is malnutrition actually?

B: Undernutrition (wasting, stunting, underweight), inadequate vitamins/minerals, overweight, and obesity.

A: So, too fat people are also malnutrition? Wow... OK, how many people in the world suffer from malnutrition?

B: Yes, too fat or too thin isn't healthy either. According to data in 2022, 45 million of children were wasted (too thin for height), 149 million children under 5 years were stunted (too short for age), and 37 million were overweight.

A: How about adult people suffer from overweight or underweight?

B: From the same data in 2022... 2,5 billion adults were overweight and 390 million were underweight.

A: It doesn't sound good at all. Isn't there any global action plan to overcome these problems?

B: Yes, there is... UN proclaimed 2016-2025 as the UN Decade of Action on Nutrition. There're also Sustainable Development Goal (SDG) 2 and SDG 3 to ensure healthy lives and promote wellbeing for all at all ages by 2030.
