Elon Musk's Starlink Will Enter Indonesia

The issue of Starlink that will enter Indonesia has been a polemic lately. Starlink is an Internet satellite owned by Elon Musk, who is the richest man in the world. Starlink has become a polemic because besides having a positive impact that can benefit Indonesia, Starlink can also burden Indonesia. On the positive side, Starlink can reach all parts of Indonesia and has a large capacity rate. This can be a solution for blank spot areas in Indonesia. Additionally, Starlink can also serve as a backhaul for mobile service providers and currently has a B2B partner, Telkomsat. But on the other hand, Starlink can threaten national telecommunications providers if not properly regulated. Starlink also still uses Global IP, which could violate personal data protection and state sovereignty. Until now, Starlink has not yet obtained an ISP license in Indonesia. In conclusion, the implementation of Starlink in Indonesia must be well regulated to maintain business continuity and prioritize its complementary services in 3T and blankspot areas, by complying with applicable laws and regulations.
