Banda Aceh City Became a Tourist Icon

Banda Aceh city is one of the cities in Aceh province that is located in the western tip of Sumatra Island. Banda Aceh is the capital of Aceh province, Indonesia. Banda Aceh also as a center government because it is the center of economic, political, social and cultural activities in Aceh province.

Banda Aceh has a motto that is "Saboeh Pakat Tabangun Banda"  and gets nickname"Agra van Andalas".

Banda Aceh applies and implements Islamic Syari'ah in a kaffah manner that is in accordance with the al-Qur'an and al-Hadith. So that requires everyone to dress modeslty in accordance with the religion of Islam.

Banda Aceh became the center of tourism in Aceh province. This is supported by the many tourist spots, such as Baiturrahman Grand Mosque, Tsunami Museum, Aceh Museum, Gunongan, Putroe Phang, Ratu Safiatuddin Park, PLTD Apung, Blang Padang and many other tourist spots.

Baiturrahman Grand Mosque is the most popular tourist icon by local tourists and international tourists. This mosque looks very grand and beautiful because it is decorated with unique architecture and decoration. And now it looks more magnificent again because it has an electric umbrella like the Nabawi Mosque in Madinah.

Baiturrahman Grand Mosque is one proof of a mosque that was not destroyed by the tsunami that struck Aceh on Sunday, December 26, 2004. The mosque is also the pride of the Acehnese people.

Beside to the Baiturrahman Grand Mosque, other tourist spots also become tourist icons of the city of Aceh. One of them is the Aceh Museum, where we can find out about the history of Aceh, the Tsunami Museum is a place to find out information about the Aceh earthquake and tsunami.
