The action-drama-history genre Korean drama has managed to captivate the hearts of Korean drama viewers, especially one of the key players, Lee Je Hoon, in 2023, exactly at the 'Korean Drama Awards' Lee Je Hoon was nominated in the 'Daesang' category for his performance in the Korean Drama 'Taxi Driver'.

Taxi Driver is a South Korean drama that has captivated audiences worldwide with it's distinct blend of action, drama, and social commentary. Kim Do-ki, a former special forces soldier turned taxi driver, is the protagonist of the series. He works for a secret organisation named Rainbow Taxi Company. This company specialises in providing a unique type of justice to victims who have been wronged by the system.

The first season of Taxi Driver portrays Kim Do-ki and his team operating in a world where they have undertaken four perilous missions against people who had committed horrible crimes. It deals with spectacular action scenes and emotional storytelling, allowing viewers to put themselves in the shoes of the victims and cheer for the heroes. There is a large group of characters with very different abilities and purposes that add depth to the story.

As compared to most of the other Season 1 entries, the interesting pace is maintained while bringing across important societal themes effectively to audiences. The drama does not shy away from depicting the awful realities that victims of a crime have to face, and it provides a cathartic experience in bringing those offenders to trial.

Season 2 of Taxi Driver builds on the first season's success, presenting new obstacles and expanding the Rainbow Taxi Company's environment. While the primary concept stays same, the second season provides a new viewpoint on the vigilante justice subject. The introduction of new characters and storylines deepens the narrative, while the rising stakes keep viewers on the edge of their seats.

While some fans may claim that Season 2 does not achieve the same heights as the first season, it nevertheless provides a satisfying conclusion to the series. The series' ability to strike a balance between action, drama, and social critique is admirable.

Season 2 was a hit because one of the episodes addressed the Burning Sun case, which was highly discussed by kpop fans because the main perpetrator was a well-known group member, Seungri, a former member of the popular boy group Big Bang. Although the controversy has been ongoing since 2019, there are still numerous irregularities that need to be investigated because it involves so many victims, the vast majority of whom are female.

Overall, Taxi Driver is a captivating drama that provides an exciting and thought-provoking viewing experience. Both seasons effectively combine action, drama, and social commentary to produce a compelling story. The series' examination of the difficulties of justice and the extent people will go to get revenge is both amusing and thought-provoking.

Last year, precisely after all of the episodes of Taxi Driver Season 2 broadcast, the drama's production team revealed that there will be another continuation of the drama, which is now being discussed, but the release date is unknown.

So what do you think of this drama?
