One of my colleagues asked me to watch “Eclipse” with her students at Dieng Theater, in Malang. Absolutely without thinking twice, I directly said “yes”. She always convinced me that it would be much better to watch the movie first than read the book. But I gave quite convincing arguments that it would much better for me to read the novel first than watch the movie. It was intended to understand and to “dive” deeper of the characters from the author’s point of view. In other words, I would get much of the characters’ feeling within. It was completely true that I could comprehend and enjoy the film better than when I did not read the novel. Reading the novel helped me analyze the characters’ actions and conflicts internally or externally. The conflict that an average Isabella Swan had to face in her love life, as quoted that fire and ice could not live side by side. They would destroy each other. Fire was represented by a muscular, insistent manner of Jacob Black, a werewolf, whereas Ice was represented by a handsome, cool and loving Edward Cullen, a vegetarian vampire. The things that I can get here is that we, as human beings also face the same things when we need to choose. And the one who can decide the choice will be ours. We should be sure and not regret what we have chosen. Have faith to whatever we do to take the responsibility of our choice. YET, one thing for sure ….. In this movie, I have seen Edward Cullen smiles. He is so coolly handsome and strikingly melting my heart into a mass of liquid just like in this picture ….
