Appendix: Transcriptions
This is the transcription of the speeches of the forty students of the English Department, Petra Christian University. These speeches were recorded by a recorder device from a cell phone and were transcribed as the original one. These speeches were divided into two parts, that is from the first semester students and from the seventh semester students. Each conversation is marked by the number of pair.
Note.
Filling the Pause: the speaker needs time to breaks off the speech while continuing to articulate
Hesitating: the speaker needs time to think about what s/he will say next (search the appropriate word)
Interrupting: the speaker wants to utter different topic or start a new topic when the other speakers talk about some topics
Holding a Conversation Turn: the speaker does not want to give up his/her turn
Empathizing: the speaker may check whether the listener pays attention or not and invite the listeners to get involved in what the speaker says
Mitigating: the speaker can soften or mitigate utterances in order not to hurt the addressee's feelings
Editing the Term: the speaker corrects the speech error s/he has made
