Bad experience is a great teacher. Do you agree with the statement that bad experience will be a great teacher? What do you think Selvia? Do you think so? Somehow, I got different opinion. I do not think that bad experience will always be a great teacher.
I usually ask myself a question related to why we have to focus too much on bad experience or mistakes, but we rarely focus on our beneficial experience or right thing we have done. I thought if we changed our focus and concentrated on the correct one, instead of the incorrect thing, we would achieve a far better result.
Imagined that your teacher when you were in junior or senior high school, returned your exam and said, “Let’s we discuss questions that you answer right. For example, Sally’s teacher could say, “Sally, your answer for question number four was incredibly outstanding,” or “Rahmad, your answer for question number six was masterpiece and it was so amazing.” I am sure that after class dismissed, Sally and Rahmad would leave their class with spectacular feeling.
I love a conversation between Alice and Mad Hatter in Alice in Wonderland by Lewis Carroll:
Alice "In my hometown, people find out anything that they cannot do well, so they are able to finish anything that they can do well."
Mad "We only walk around Wonderland, but we always finish in our starting grid. Could you explain your question further?"
Alice "Well, Adult people order us to look for anything we are wrongdoing, and we forbid to do it again."
Mad "It is so weird! In my opinion, in order to understand about something, we have to learn about it. Furthermore if we learn about it, we shall do it better. What is the purpose of doing a great thing but you never do it anymore? But let’s continue your story."
Alice "Nobody ever told us to learn something that we can do better. We just need to learn improper things. On the other hand, we permit to discover some correct things which have been done by other people. Moreover, sometimes we are even asked to imitate it."
Mad "Oh My God Alice, how poor you are! It was totally cheating!"
Alice "You are right, Mr. Hatter. I am already living in the upside-down world. I thought I have to do wrong things in advance, therefore I am able to learn from something I should not do. Subsequently, by not doing something I should not do, perhaps I can be right. But, I prefer to be right at the first time when I try something, right?"
