Hasan Hanafi is an Islamic philosopher. he obtained his doctorate in 1996 at the University of Paris. Hasan Hanafi refused and criticized the west, but his ideas about western liberalism, democracy, rationalism, had influenced his thinking patterns. In the early 1960s Hanafi thought was influenced by ideas that developed in Egypt.

In the initial phase of his thought, the Hanafi writings were purely scientific. and it was only at the end of the year that he began to talk about the necessity of Islam to develop a life perspective with the dimension of liberation. so, the main point lies in how Islam can be actualized in context and in real life.

Muhammad Abid Al Jabiri was born in 1936. His philosophical education began in 1958 at the University of Damascus. One of al jabiri's thoughts is about modernity, which has a big influence in building a new epistemology that is in accordance with the development of society at this time.

al jabiri thinks that modernity is a rebellion against past traditions to create a tradition. and according to al jabiri modernity is only a historical phenomenon that depends on the situation, and differs from one place to another.
