On a holiday few years back, we made a short stop in Bandung on the way home from Sukabumi until about 10 pm. Since my husband had already driven all day, it was my turn to sit behind the wheel all the way home. I hadn’t been to Bandung for quite some time, so the highway became sort of unfamiliar to me. Especially after Padalarang Gate, when the road turned to slope upward and downward, sometimes very steep I could hardly see where to go due to the absence of street lights. The road was almost empty, there were seldom other cars passing by. Usually I hated packed traffics, but that time I wished there had been more cars so I could easily tail them. In the deep of the night, there was no other way but to be extra careful and – thank God – there were traffic signs on the sides of the road, from yellow diamond shaped signs with arrow picture, to – especially – those little red dots with fluorescence effect so I could catch a glimpse of them even from a far distance. I mainly relied on the traffic signs to guide me along the unfamiliar tracks. [caption id="attachment_115824" align="aligncenter" width="300" caption="http://image.automk.com/media/2007/11/solarlite-road-stud2a.jpg"][/caption] Only then did I realize how useful the traffic signs they’d put there. They must have been placed there for that particular safety reasons – gosh …. I always took them for granted ! During previous travels, when we visited Bandung more often and when I wasn’t so tired, those little red dots had meant nothing … I didn’t even pay attention. Then that night God kindly spoke to me, freshly reminding me of His Words, another ‘little red fluorescent dots’, ‘traffic signs’ granted to guide my way, leading my life. Often times they are also taken for granted. But in darkest time, I’m never left alone – He’s always there with His promise that never fails to strengthen me through His powerful words. How I need them every single hour … Another thing was the more I drove, the more I became dependent to the little red dots – trying to familiarize my eyes in the darkness – they became more obvious and easier to catch ! I guess the same thing also applies with God’s words in our life. The more we seek them, the more He will illuminate us, and the more we will learn to know His will ! Amen …. “Thy word is a lamp unto my feet and a light unto my path” (Psalms 119:105)
