Whoosh stands for Waktu Hemat, Operasi Optimal, Sistem Hebat, which translates to Time Savings, Optimal Operation, Great System. The Whoosh high-speed train is a result of collaboration between Indonesia and China, with a cost of up to 8.6 billion US dollars.
