UIN Bandung Student Undertakes Internship at Pikiran Rakyat Media Network

Keisha Kayla Shandy, a dedicated student from the class of 2022 majoring in English Literature at UIN Sunan Gunung Djati Bandung, has taken an important step in her academic journey by choosing to undertake her Practical Field Experience (PPL) at Pikiran Rakyat Media Network (PRMN). 

This decision was made after a careful considerations, including a faculty recommendation encouraging students to seek internships aligned with their field of study. In her case, PRMN stood out as a leading media platform in Indonesia that would allow her to gain practical experience while applying her academic background in English Literature. 

A discussion with the Editorial Secretary of PRMN solidified this decision when it was revealed that her role during the PPL would involve writing English-language articles, a task perfectly suited to her expertise.

Throughout her one-month PPL at PRMN, she gained various benefits, ranging from understanding proper journalistic writing structures to learning the correct techniques for writing articles. This process provided her with the opportunity to develop more structured, effective, and engaging writing skills for readers. During this internship, she also received guidance on using writing tools that support the quality of the articles produced.

In addition to honing her soft skills, the student also had the opportunity to develop hard skills related to the technical aspects of writing and editing articles. This experience allowed her to channel her passion for writing into journalistic work while practicing the necessary skills for the media industry. This PPL served as the ideal platform for her to sharpen her professional abilities in writing, particularly in the context of journalism.

Pikiran Rakyat Media Network, as one of the major media outlets in Indonesia, provides a supportive environment for students to learn and grow, especially in writing articles in English. With this experience, she is expected to bring the skills acquired during her internship to a professional level in the future.
