A. Definition

Present Continuous Tense is a tense that states an activity or event that is ongoing. It uses V-ing. 

B. Formula and Examples

(+) S + to be (am/is/are) + V-ing 

  • I am doing my assignments.
  • She is cooking for dinner.

(-) S + to be (am/is/are) + not + V-ing

  • My father is not working his project.
  • They are not playing in the field.

(?) To be (am/is/are) + S + V-ing? 

  • Are Gerry and Laila going to school?
    • Yes, they are.
    • No, they are not.
  • Am I forgetting something?
    • Yes, you are.
    • No, you are not.
