July 09 presidential election is still one month ahead but it seems the competition between Jokowi (Joko Widodo) and Prabowo (Prabowo Subianto) is getting tighter.The “game” between both candidates will be more competitive as said by Burhanuddin Muhtadi (from the pollster Indikator Politik Indonesia).
Although Jokowi who was nominated by the Indonesia Democratic Party of Struggle (PDI-Perjuangan) has been considered as the most favorite contender in the race, Burhanuddin asked Jokowi’s supporters should not be complacent because the result can turn at any time.
The position of Prabowo Subianto, who is the leader of Gerindra Party, to win the Indonesia presidential election against Jokowi is now equal and the race will be interesting to watch.
PDI-P as the winner in the last general election of almost 19 percent of the vote was unable to nominate their own candidate; therefore, the winning party asked other parties to join their coalition like Nasdem (National Democrat), PKB (Partai Kebangkitan Bangsa)/NU based Party, and Hanura (Hati Nurani Rakyat) Party .
Meanwhile Gerindra as the third winning party successfully asked Golkar (the second winning party), PAN (Partai Amanat Nasional), PKS (Partai Keadilan Sejahtera), PPP (PartaiPersatuan Pembangunan) and PBB (Partai Bulan Bintang). The latest pool showed that Prabowo is narrowing the gap as he grasped essential margin after Jokowi.
Even though some surveys indicated the margin gap is still two-digit difference , the competition is still fierce as the majority of the undecided voters are still huge. Prabowo seemed optimistic and certain that he can still fight till the end meanwhile Jokowi responded normally and will accept whatever the God’s decision on 09 of July-the day of the presidential election when people will be selecting their own favorite president.
Black campaigns which are directed to both candidates probably have a little impact to those candidates as both contestants have their own reputations.Jokowi realized that his “outback” appearance(muka kampung) is one of the drawbacks as his opponents often attacked him, but he countered back as he has been a very successful export – import furniture businessman for more than 20 years.
Some analysts are confident the presidential election race is very tight and neither is going to win with a landslide. So babe? Which one will you choose? Number1 or 2?
