Born in Rumbai, Pekanbaru city, on June 28, 1969, is an Indonesian man named Sandiaga Salahuddin Uno. He holds a notable position as a politician and businessman. In addition, his political career—which included a bid for vice president of Indonesia—and his entrepreneurial contributions to the Indonesian economy are well recognized.
Early Life and Education
Sandiaga is the son of Razif Hali Uno and Rachmini Rachman. His father worked at Caltex in Riau before the family moved to Jakarta in the 1970s. Sandiaga attended various schools, eventually graduatking Summa Cum Laude from Wichita State University in Kansas with a Bachelor of Business Administration in 1990. He later earned a Master of Business Administration from George Washington University in 1992, where he graduated with a perfect GPA of 4.00.
Business Career
Sandiaga began his professional career at Bank Summa in Jakarta before moving to Singapore to work as an investment manager at Seapower Asia Investment Limited. His career took him to Canada as an Executive Vice President at NTI Resources Ltd. However, the 1997 Asian financial crisis led to his unemployment, prompting him to return to Indonesia.
Buddy Rosan Roeslani as his friend in high school, featuring with Sandiaga Uno as co-founded PT Recapital Advisors in 1997. He start the entrepreneurial careerwith this endeavor, which includes founding PT Saratoga Investama Sedaya with Edwin Soeryadjaya in 1998. Saratoga Capital focuses in buying and help distressed businesses, grew to become one of Indonesia's biggest investment firms. Forbes on 2013 placed him at the llist of top 40 Indonesian wealthiest, estimating his net worth to $400 million.
Political Career
His political journey start when he decide joined the Gerindra Party in the middle 2015. And He was winning elected as Deputy Governor of Jakarta city in 2017 alongside Anies Baswedan as the Governor elected, defeating the incumbent pair Basuki Tjahaja Purnama or Ahok and Djarot Saiful Hidayat. Sandiaga served as Deputy Governor just in a year, and he decide to resigned in early August 2018 to run as vice presidential candidate for the 2019 presidential election with Gerinda Party Leader's Prabowo Subianto. Although they were failed in that presiedential election, Sandiaga's political profile continued to rise. On Last month of 2020, He was asked to be the minister of tourism and Creative economy by Mr President, and he succesful to reviving Indonesian Tourism post pandemic.
Personal Life
Sandiaga Uno is married to Nur Asiah, whom he met in junior high school. They have three children: Sulaiman Saladdin Uno, Anneesha Atheera Uno, and Amyra Atheefa Uno. in his career, He has the a princip of hard work, integrity, and continuous learning as keys to success.
