Recently, an online food court named Babiambo selling the non-halal version of Padang food went viral on Twitter. This has sparked debate on social media, with some claiming that the idea of selling this type of food has crossed the line.
The food seller was questioned by police on Friday, June 6th, following a viral tweet on Twitter criticizing the food ingredients.
"Because the stall is no longer for sale, this action should not be required." Said Selfia, one of the netizen who gave a comment.
The viral incident caused a debate among Twitter users. Most people think that the accusation of the food vendor was thought to be unnecessary. Netizen believe that the police should be handling more serious matters.
"This action, in my opinion, is unnecessary because the food seller has also stated on his Instagram bio that the food is non-halal." Said Alvi, a Twitter user.
She added that the story went viral because the Minangnese community who were Muslim did not agree with using pork as the main ingredient.
