Gempabumi Guncang Pacitan, Tidak Berpotensi Tsunami - BMKG

Pacitan, East Java - On June 7, 2023, a strong earthquake in East Java's Pacitan region sent shockwaves throughout the region and seriously damaged nearby structures and infrastructure. The 6.8-magnitude earthquake, which struck at about 3:15 p.m. local time, caught everyone off guard and caused a mass panic.

The epicenter of the earthquake, according to the regional emergency management organization, was 10 kilometers off the coast of Pacitan. According to the latest reports, a number of buildings, including residences and public buildings, have been damaged to varied degrees.

Local officials and emergency response teams rapidly mobilized to examine the situation and help the affected residents. To guarantee the safety of people who might be trapped under debris, search and rescue activities are in progress. Medical teams are also ready to help anybody hurt in the earthquake with their injuries.

Rescue attempts have been delayed in certain regions by the disruption of communication and energy cables. Local government agencies are aggressively trying to restore critical services and offer required assistance.

Residents have been urged by the Indonesian Meteorology, Climatology, and Geophysics Agency (BMKG) to take extra caution and prepare for aftershocks, which are frequent after a big earthquake. In order to offer affected people emergency help, shelter, and necessary supplies, the government has launched a coordinated response.
