Hasan Hanafi's Thoughts at a Glance:

As in his book which has been published by the Occidental Occadians; Our Attitude Towards Western Traditions which in its original title Muqadimah Fi Ilm Al Istighrab. In the work he invited his readers to wage jihad against the west, precisely to do theology for the sake of liberation. When viewed from the theoretical-philosophical interpreter, the character of Hasan Hanafi's left revolutionary thought. As someone who has a strong sense of reality, Hasan Hanafi has a very empirical or down to earth view. As a reformer Muslim he was a cultural bearer who was critical of Islam and a thinker of Islamic civilization. Cultural strategies as a conscious effort by humans to transcend difficulties, obstacles, and even contemporary and contemporary issues.

Hasan Hanafi has such great concern about the real problems of Muslims, such as injustice, oppression, colonialism. This thinking is in line with his friend Ali Syariati, one of the same Iranian ideologists studying at the Sorbone. Hasan Hanafi in a comprehensive cultural strategy known as the project of tradition and modernization. In the project he set out three main agendas for our attitudes toward tradition, our attitude towards western traditions, and our attitude towards reality. The three agendas are dialectics of the ego with itself, namely the inheritance of the past, and dialectics with others, in a particular time medium that is dialectics with the present. These three agendas by Hasan Hanafi are acts that are not merely intellectual exercises, but are indeed shown as real changes in the Islamic world.

  Abid Al jabri thoughts:

According to Al-Jabiri, tradition (turats) is seen not as remnants or cultural heritage of the past, but as "part of the refinement" of unity within the scope of the culture, which consists of religious and sharia doctrines, language and literature, reason and mentality, and expectations. Tradition is not meant as a total acceptance of classical inheritance, so the term authenticity is debatable. Al-Jabiri's important contribution was the first he introduced to us the various constructs of reason that developed in the Islamic world. Secondly, with the concept of Arabic Criticism, it means that al-Jabiri proves that, every particular way of thinking has a prominent tendency. If Akal Bayani dominates in Islamic civilization, it is certain that the textualistic tendency will be very strong. Conversely, if what dominates is the way of the work of the Mind Burhani, as we can see in the period of the glory of Islam, the rationalistic tendency will be very strong in the development of science. Based on the concept of al-Jabiri, now Indonesian Muslims are dominated by Akal Bayani with all its scientific manifestations. That is, textualistic tendencies are now very strong. For this reason, we must eliminate this tendency, or at least be offset by a more rationalistic and intuitive tendency.
