A new case of anthrax occurred in Dukuh Jati, Candirejo Village, Semanu District, Gunung Kidul Regency due to consuming beef that suddenly died and had been buried. As a result, three people died from May to June 2023. Of the three cases that died, one case was sampled and diagnosed with suspected anthrax. Anthrax, which is caused by a bacterium called Bacillus anthracis, is an infectious disease that can affect many types of animals and even humans. When infected, anthrax can have serious effects on the human body, including symptoms such as high fever, muscle aches, shortness of breath, and even death if not treated quickly.
In our interview with brother Adi Josua Ambarita (23) , he revealed, "The anthrax virus has a significant potential for harm. Therefore, it is important for people to understand the symptoms and risks associated with it. Precautionary steps must be taken to reduce the spread of this virus ."
One of the main modes of transmission of the anthrax virus is through direct contact with infected animals or contaminated animal products, such as meat or wool. Therefore, breeders and workers in the agricultural sector are encouraged to adopt strict hygiene measures and keep the environment clean.

With increasing awareness of the threat of the anthrax virus, vigilance must be increased among the public. Avoiding contact with infected animals, maintaining personal hygiene, and following a vaccination program are important steps individuals can take to protect themselves from the anthrax virus. Through these steps, it is hoped that the spread of the anthrax virus can be minimized, and public health is maintained.
