Smartphones are seen as a trend in the last decade and have now been a necessity for millennials' lifestyle. According to vital information based on a poll conducted by the Pew Research Center, around 95% of teens have access to a smartphone. Another study conducted by Pew Research Center showed that around 45% of teenagers constantly check their phones and confess feelings of addiction to their electronic devices.This statistics prove the fact that smartphones are now becoming a necessity and primary need for teenagers. These trend of overusing smartphone can lead many younger generation to suffer from many negative effects such as depression, cyberbullying, brainwashing websites and cults, and pornography. Other problems that are faced by teenagers are the national identity crisis from the risk of westernization and global culture. Which further proves that westernization and global culture can cause a big negative impact to the Indonesian youth.
- POSSIBLE SOLUTION TO PREVENT RISKS AND DANGERS PRESENTED BY UNMONITORED SMARTPHONE AND TECHNOLOGY USAGE
As has been mentioned, Some solutions are needed in order to prevent the negative effects and gain more benefits from global culture.
- Solution such as, making the addiction of smartphones in teenagers become more beneficial for them and the society through creating an innovative application that is filled with knowledge about the culture of Indonesia. In this app, teenagers can report and submit their positive activity on the internet such as studying, making informative journals, etc to gain some rewards in the form of internet data or other things that can be beneficial for teenagers. This method will not only make teenagers use their smartphone positively, but also teach them to love our local culture, motivate them to do positive things for the society, and contribute as citizens of Indonesia.
- Other solutions are to create an authorized and unbreakable proxy or security mechanisms for malicious and negative websites that contains pornography, hoax, and radical ideology to prevent cyberbullying, and brainwashing of teenagers when they using their smartphone.
- And the last solution is to make an awareness movement on the risk and consequences of being prematurely exposed by smartphone and how to filter out bad influence from global culture presented from smartphone, through seminars and creating a vessel in a form of youth foundation for teenagers.

Through globalization we are being exposed and introduced to many different cultures, societies, and people. All of that is made possible by the advancement of technology triggered by globalization. Globalization makes way for Global Culture to emerge and spread all around the world. As teenagers that are being influenced by global culture, we need to be more aware and well-prepared to face global culture. Being able to use smartphones and new technologies wisely, and filter out the negative effects. Through innovative solutions and determination as the youth of Indonesia, we can minimize the negative effect of globalization and global culture, and maximize the positive effect it brings through using technology and especially smartphones wisely.
