FACTORS CAUSING EARLY MARRIAGE AMONG YOUNG PEOPLE IN INDONESIA

Ngabang, 17 juli 2023. Early marriage has complex and diverse impact depending on the context and the individuals involved.

 Early marriage in millennials has several causes, most of which involve cultural, socioeconomic, and environmental pressures.

Some of the factors that can lead to early marriage include :

• Cultural factors : In someone areas, there are still different understandings of arraged marriage based on customary and cultural factors. And there is also pressure or coercion marriage.he strong desire of adolescents to enter into early marriage of their own accrord is callled intention, which is the tendencyto marry in adolescence or under the age of 20 years (Syria et al., 2022).
• Socioeconomic factors : The difficult economy is a burden in itself, which increases the tedency to agree with parents to enter into early marriage. The existence of promiscuity due to the low spritual foundation that causes moral decline which leads to the occurrence of early marriage (forced by circumstances because it is already done) in order to minimize. adverse effects such as the emergence of moral burdens and social sanctions from the community in the environtment concerned.
• Neigborhood preasures : There is also the view that children will have a better life after marriage. However, early marriage can have a negative impact on children's education, extent the chain of poverty, and harm the country's economy.

From the results of my interview with Mrs. Triwahyuni Gary, it can be seen that the Christian view does not recommend early marriage because apart from the negative impacts caused, the Bible also does not recommend it. The Bible records that those who marry are physically and psychologically mature.

Millennials can also avoid marriage, Seeing the number of divorces that occur in the surrounding community, and they are not ready to commit to continuing their relationship to a more serious stage. Career success will shift a person's focus so that they are not in a hurry to decide to get married. Solutions that can be done to strengthen the spiritual foundation will help understand the purpose of marriage so that it does not have to be rushed in making decisions.

To address early marriage in millennials, education plays an important role. Education can  boarden the horizons of children and adolescents and help convince them of the importance of delaying marriage until a more mature age.

In addition, provide adequate education regarding the risks involved. As well as strengthening the sprituals foundation that will help understand the purpose of marriage so that it does not have to be rushed in making decisions.
