This morning I try to write my local vernacular using traditional alphabet compiled by Javanese ancestors years ago. We call our vernacular Basa Jawa and the alphabet Hanacaraka. Actually, I envy for what India government did on their vernaculars and the alphabets which are still functionated for public uses. Our government, Indonesian government, seems careless about this eventough about 719 local vernaculars and 20s traditional alphabets are scattered from western to eastern part of country. For sure, they’re all, including overwhelming Javanese, facing extinciton years onward if no serious act from government is done. My writing is scribed using Tuladha Jejeg font for Javanese on OpenOffice the perfect! I use that application since it’s the only I have which is able to render Javanese writing system. FYI, Javanese writing system is different from what Latin, Arabic, Hangeul, and Chinese writing systems.Hanacaraka characters are flexible, its characters basically write from left to right. But practically, the chacaters also able to do right to left as taling character. Some characters also to be placed above other characters as ceceklayarwulu, and pepet or below them as most of pasangansuku, and others. This system isn’t only for Javanese, its relative alphabets, mostly Southeast Asian alphabets share same system. Ok, let’s go to my writing. ^^

If your browsers unabe to read this, there may be two possibilities: you don’t have the font or your browsers don’t support this. I have same trouble when open this page in Chrome which shows nothing but blocks. Mozilla is able rendering this eventough it can’t render as perfect as OpenOffice. But, I don’t wanna let my readers come into curious. Below is printscreening from OpenOffice of what I wrote.

Now, you’re able to see, right! Be proud of youself if you’re able to read the above too because I leave the transcription unwritten. It’s my challenge for you. :P
