This is the story of my green “WSJ 2015” flags. To commemorated the World Scout Jamboree (WSJ) 2015 which will be held on July 28 to August 8, 2015, at Kirarahama, Japan, I made three similar flags. I used A green cotton textile. Actually each flag have a different size, but approximately 50 centimeters (long) x 32 centimeters (wide). I added the flag with red cotton textile strip horizontally in middle and white cotton textile strip vertically in the left side.

Then I also added with five Scout badges, three in the left side at the white strip, while another two in the bottom side of the flag. To making it more “meaningful”, I added word “WSJ 2015” in the above side of the flag, and “JAPAN” in the middle of the red strip. Both words are in white color.

I made only three flags, that is why I must carefully choose who will I handed over the flag. Not easy, because I have so many Scout friends. But on this June 2015, I travelled to two countries for my Scout activities. So I chosen a friend in each country I visited.

The first flag goes to Mr. Michael CH Poh. He is the founder and chairman of the Singapore Scout Collectors Club (SSCC). I visited Singapore from June 5 to 7, 2015, to attend the 2nd Singapore International Friendship Fiesta (SIFF) held by the SSCC with full support of the Singapore Scout Association (SSA). Some overseas Scout collectors, including me, attended the event which also the official ceremony of the SSCC establishment.

After the great activities with many collectible items have been exhibited in the SSA Headquarters, I gave the flag to Mr. Michael Poh. My fellow Scout collector from Indonesia, Andi Wijanarko, took the picture when I handed over the flag, with some collectible items exhibit in the background.

The second flag goes to Mr. Chris Bates, Chief Commissioner of Scouts Australia. I was in Adelaide, South Australia, to participated in the Asia-Pacific Regional Scout (APR) Management Subcommittee Meeting. I departed from Jakarta, Indonesia, on June 10, 2015, and returned from Adelaide on June 15, 2015. As one of the vice chairman of the subcommittee, I have the obligation to attend the meeting. The meeting itself was host by Mr. Reg Williams, member of the APR Management Subcommittee and former Chief Commissioner of Scouts Australia, who also resident of the city of Adelaide. With full support from Mr. Chris Bates and his wife, Mrs. Janice Bates, the meeting was fruitful and completely success.

Near the end of the meeting, after a wonderful dinner in one of the restaurant in Adelaide, I gave the second flag to Mr. Chris Bates. His wife, Mrs. Janice Bates, commented that she hope she can take picture with the flag when she and her husband visiting the WSJ 2015 campsite on early August 2015.

I still do not know whether I will keep the third flag for myself or giving it to another Scout friend. But I hope the first flag in Mr. Michael Poh collection and the second flag in Mr. & Mrs. Bates collection will long lasting as one of their Scout memorabilia collection.
