Stochastic Selection of the Cosmological Constant in Chaotic Inflation: A String Theory Landscape Approach

Abstract

We propose a unified framework connecting chaotic inflation, string theory landscape, and stochastic dynamics to explain the fine-tuning of the cosmological constant (). Using the Bousso-Polchinski flux compactification mechanism, we demonstrate how emerges as a discrete parameter in a multiverse ensemble. Through Monte Carlo simulations of the inflationary potential derived from type IIB string compactifications, we show that anthropic selection within the landscape naturally yields 10 in Planck units. We derive:

1. The probability distribution: P()e2MPl2/fhab() P(L)and2MPl2/Lfmethod(L),

2. A numerical protocol to simulate -variation across bubble universes,

3. Observational signatures in CMB B-mode polarization and 21-cm cosmology.
Our model resolves the fine-tuning problem without ad hoc assumptions, offering testable predictions for next-generation telescopes.

Keywords: cosmological constant, string theory landscape, chaotic inflation, multiverse, stochastic selection
