In an Islamic state, the rights and obligations of citizens are very important concepts and are taken seriously in accordance with the principles of Islamic law. The rights and obligations of citizens in the principles of Islamic law must be carried out in balance so that later after completing the obligations of Muslims can obtain rights in accordance with Islamic law.

These rights include aspects such as the right to life, the right to freedom of religion, the right to property, and the right to legal protection and social justice. At the same time, citizens also have certain obligations, such as obeying the law, paying zakat, and participating in social activities that benefit society. This reciprocal relationship between rights and obligations is designed to create a just and harmonious balance in society.

One of the fundamental rights in an Islamic state is the right to life and protection. Islam highly values human life and emphasizes the importance of preserving life and providing protection to every individual. Any action that threatens the life or safety of an individual is strictly prohibited and strictly regulated by Islamic law. This reflects the principle that every life is precious and must be respected and protected.

In addition, citizens also have the right to freedom of religion. In an Islamic state, freedom of religion is recognized and guaranteed. Islam teaches the importance of tolerance towards followers of other religions and gives them the freedom to practice their religion.

This is demonstrated in the long history of religious tolerance in Islamic civilization, where different religious communities can coexist peacefully. This right reinforces the principle that religion is a private matter between the individual and God, and there should be no coercion in embracing religion according to one's own beliefs.

On the other hand, Islamic political thought provides an understanding that the obligations of citizens in an Islamic state are also very important. One of the main obligations is to pay zakat, which is one of the pillars of Islam. Zakat is a form of financial contribution made by people who are well-off to help those who are less well-off.

It reflects the principles of social justice and concern for others. In addition to zakat, citizens are also required to abide by the laws and regulations of the state and participate in collective efforts to maintain the security and well-being of society.

Thus, the concept of rights and duties of citizens in an Islamic state is designed to create a just, prosperous and harmonious society. The rights granted to individuals aim to protect and enhance human dignity, while the obligations imposed aim to ensure that each individual contributes to the common good. Thus, this balance between rights and obligations is the foundation for the creation of a just and sustainable society in accordance with Islamic values.
