  Assalamualaikum warahmatullahi wabarakatuh.

Dear readers, here I will discuss about why selamatan is still often carried out until now. Although the times have advanced and salvation is a cultural relic from the Hindu era. Let's just talk about it! .

Humans are social creatures. it's their natural instinct to need each other. that's what most Javanese people do. namely selamatan. Javanese people usually do selamatan as a form of gratitude. for the blessings they have experienced.

"Safety" in the Java area has many types. There is a selamatan for the newborn child, There is a selamatan to commemorate the death of someone, There is also a celebration to commemorate the Islamic new year.

Most people think maybe salvation is a relic of the Hindu era. Then why in the Islamic era even today salvation is still often done? . For most Javanese people, the meaning of salvation has another meaning.Apart from being a form of gratitude for the blessings that are felt right. Selamatan is also a place to gather, A place to strengthen relationships with each other.

And in Islam also supports an event in a way that can strengthen the ties of friendship. Allah says in the Qur'an surah al-Hujurat verse 10.

"Those who believe are actually brothers. So make peace (improve relations) between your two brothers and fear Allah, so that you may receive mercy."

This means that Islam strongly supports peace. And that's where the Javanese people do it, they are saved not only as a form of gratitude to Allah subhanahu wa ta'ala. But also a place to establish peace between brothers. Even if you are not related by blood.

Prophet Muhammad also once said about people who gather to establish peace.

"Indeed, around the Throne are pulpits of light. Above them are people who wear clothes of light and their faces glow. They are not prophets and martyrs."

The companions asked, "Who are they, O Rasulullah?"
