On Wednesday I learnt Academic Writing. The lecturer explained shortly about the topic, but I have my thought. In my opinion Academic Writing is write a text academically, refers to the topic, language style, grammar, and arrange the paragraph. Commonly, it can be found in the university or school. There were many examples of Academic Writing like thesis, subject book, science analysis, etc.
I loved write diary to express my current feeling. Sometimes I used the slang words, I didn't consider about grammar, just follow my mind. However, we can't take the same way for Academic Writing. We need to pay attention about the vocabulary and grammar. For instance, to write a thesis usually we put the science words, we consider about grammar and punctuation, then organize the paragraphs, so the reader can get the information clearly from the text. Obviously, Academic Writing will close to the subject like science, humania, economic and so on.
Academic Writing must be write in the formal way. For some reason, usually it approach in the formal institution. There may be many important people who had high degree, and writing in the formal way can describe our attitudes for them. Simply, it looks like academic email for my lecturer. I can not use my daily language, because according to the email it shows my salutation to the lecturer, right?
So this is the essential skill that have to owned by academic people. Specially for the students of university, we have to exercising our writing skill in order to make us easier when write a thesis later.
