"Climate change is no longer some far-off problem; it is happening here, it is happening now," said Barack Obama on Climate Change, President of the United States of America. That is exactly true. Actually, what is climate change? That is a condition when carbon dioxide, the heat-trapping greenhouse gas that has driven recent global warming, lingers in the atmosphere for hundreds of years, and the planet (especially the oceans) takes a while to respond to warming. So even if we stopped emitting all greenhouse gases today, global warming and climate change will continue to affect future generations. For a more deeper understanding of climate change, we have to know this three points; the cause of climate change and the effect of climate change.

Why can climate change happen? The most common cause is the role of human activity. A group of 1,300 independent scientific experts from countries all over the world under the auspices of the United Nations, concluded there's a more than 95 percent probability that human activities over the past 50 years have warmed our planet. Nowadays, the use of motor vehicles and industrial activities is increasing. It can produce gases such as carbon dioxide and methane, that gases can make greenhouse and cause much of the increase in Earth's temperatures.

After the Earth's temperatures increasing, what will the effect after that? Firstly, warming oceans. The oceans have absorbed much of this increased heat, and also it can make El-Nino happen. Secondly, shrinking ice sheets. In fact, the Greendland and Antartic ice sheets have decreased in mass. The data from NASA's Gravity Recovery and Climate Experiment show Greenland lost 150 to 250 cubic kilometers (36 to 60 cubic miles) of ice per year between 2002 and 2006, while Antarctica lost about 152 cubic kilometers (36 cubic miles) of ice between 2002 and 2005.Thirdly, the sea level rise with the Earth's temperature, it is about 8 inches in the last century, NASA's research. The last is ocean acidification. It is the result of humans emitting more carbon dioxide into the atmosphere and hence more being absorbed into the oceans.

In conclusion, climate change is very dangerous and will increase more and more. If human produces more pollution, the effects of climate change will increase too.  And then, because we are already committed to some level of climate change, we just have the two-pronged approach. First is mitigation, that is reducing emissions and stabilizing the levels of heat-trapping greenhouse gases in the atmosphere. The last is an adaptation, it is like adapting to the climate change already in the pipeline.
